THE ROLE

As a Facilities Manager you organise, control and coordinate the strategic and operational management of buildings and facilities. This includes the efficient operation of all physical aspects of one or more facilities, creating safe and productive environments for occupants.  

CONTRIBUTION TO NET ZERO

Facilities Managers help organisations achieve their net zero goal by implementing strategies to reduce energy and resource consumption. They also integrate sustainable practices within buildings and facilities, including maintaining green roofs and facades, and managing waste.

QUALIFICATIONS

There is no requisite qualification for becoming a Facilities Manager, though it is recommended that FMs undertake the Diploma of Facilities Management.

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

The Facility Management Association of Australia (FMA) has mapped five different career levels, from an entry-level Facilities Officer through to Facilities Director.

Individuals with business administration or finance qualifications, or those with project management or trade experience, upskill on the job.
